 This restaurant is the ultimate in exquisite dining.  The setting is elegant yet intimate, the service outstanding without being obsequious and the French-California food is just out of this world.  (Don’t miss the Quail Salad and Roasted Lobster entrée. They are impossible to beat.)

This restaurant in the Hotel Monaco is one of the most beautiful rooms in San Francisco.  It is done in 1920’s French style with soaring ceilings, giant legere type prints, undulating mosaic floors and whimsical Bronze statues.  The food is very good French-California.

Alice Waters’ famous California cuisine establishment.  Upstairs café: casual, fabulous food at moderate prices, no reservations, 1-2 hour wait, but well worth it.  Downstairs: Extremely expensive, hard to get into without 1 month advance reservation but an incredible experience.  Note:  This restaurant is in Berkeley; about 45 minutes drive from San Francisco.

Scala’s Bistro

After shopping in Union Square, a perfect stop for a quick bite, especially for a bowl of their asparagus soup.  Great Tuscan style dining room, with warm colors and great service.  Nestled in the Sir Francis Drake Hotel, an easy find.  Good for lunch or dinner.  Reservations highly recommended.

Chef Michael Tusk draws his inspiration from all over the Mediterranean.  You'll find Quince in the historic Pacific Heights apocathery shop that once hosted the highly esteemed Meeting House restaurant.  Quince is open for dinner only: Sunday-Thursday, 5:30-10pm.  Friday & Saturday 5:30-10:30pm
